On the 13th November, 1862, Bathurst was proclaimed a Municipality in the New South Wales Government Gazette. The Municipality of Bathurst could now elect a Council.
This book was a project to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Family History Group of Bathurst. The book explores how Bathurst has developed through the lives of the first thirty-two Mayors, between 1863 and 1915. It is divided into a number of sections: At the Governor’s Pleasure, The City of the Plains, The Formative Years of Council, The Consolidation Years of Council, and The Changing Face of the Region.
