Ten Dead Men A Speculative History of the Ribbon Gang
The name “Ribbon Gang Lane” is familiar to most people in Bathurst, NSW. The lane forms a short, dog-leg connection between William Street and Church Street in the heart of the town’s business district and within the block which was at one time its historic town square. The lane, like many background features of one’s childhood, was rarely questioned even if noticed. Many years later, however, as an architect practising in Bathurst, I became involved with and interested in local historical research. It was in the course of preparing plans for government that intriguing references to that lane and the Ribbon Gang recurred. A lane were the public execution of the Ribbon Gang took place. With interested piqued, this book was researched and written.
