Kelso Village - Book 1

$45.00

This book was written to celebrate the Centenary of Federation, 2001. Kelso has always had a unique relationship with Bathurst. It was the place where Governor Macquarie’s first free settlers and ticket-of-leave men were located, they being forbidden the left bank of the Macquarie River. That was reserved for convicts and soldiers. Kelso, consequently, was Bathurst’s first satellite village but as the two communities were so close they necessarily made an impact on each other that went beyond that generated by more distant places. Until now, insights into that special relationship have been lacking.

This book examines the many places, building, businesses and people that have helped shape Kelso over time.
