Joseph married twice. Wife number one was Frances Smith nee Green. This marriage produced two sons. His second wife was Sarah Green nee Harveron. Joseph and Sarah were the parents of thirteen children.

Charlotte was thrice wed. Her first husband was John Hedger. Her second marriage was to Joseph Woollams, a widower, who already had one son. Charlotte and Joseph Woollams had a family of two surviving children. Charlotte and her third husband John Thomas Richardson produced no issue.
