The Society has a series of historical information sheets such as Walking Tours of Bathurst, Army Camp, Cox's Road, Ben Hall's Raid on Bathurst, etc. They also stock a selection of local history books.
The building known as Old Government Cottage is a rare, intact example, of an early Bathurst home. This historic building is located at 16 Stanley Street on the western side of the Macquarie River in the area of the old Government settlement.
The building was re-opened after its recent repair and refurbishment in July 2012. This was the first major work on the building since the mid 1960s.
Each month a muster is organised at the Uniting Church Activities Hall with different speakers and different topics each month. Participants are invited to bring a plate to share for supper afterwards and a gold coin donation to assist in costs. Check out the next muster or search on previous musters for information.
The Bathurst District Historical Society has been run by volunteers since it began in 1947. Together we manage the Historical Museum and Bookshop, Research Rooms, Old Government Cottage with its heritage garden and over 23000 items in our collection.
