On Saturday 30 April 2022, BDHS members and guests descended on Abercrombie House for their 75th Anniversary celebration.

With a delicious cake made by BDHS member and volunteer, Barbara Bacon, it was a fantastic night. BDHS member and volunteer Sarah Swift gave a speech about her research into 75 objects from the BDHS Collection to mark this important milestone.

We were reminded that early on, the people of Bathurst realised the historical significance of our town and the items within it. A meeting was first held on Tuesday 5 March 1940, to discuss forming an historical society.

After World War Two, the first official meeting of the Bathurst District Historical Society was held on Tuesday 6 May 1947. We remembered the members and volunteers whose dedication gives cause for celebration and the success of the BDHS.

Many thanks to all who attended and the terrific team at Abercrombie House for their generous hospitality and making it so memorable!
